Infant Brain Development


There are different kinds out sensorial activities which are carried out in Montessori schools. Some of the details are given here..

Sound Boxes: This activity is used for children between 3 ½ to 4 years of age. It generally consists of two boxes, each with a set of six different cylinders usually dual coloured.  The main purpose of the game is to teach the children the difference between loud and soft sound. Therefore it helps to refine their auditory sense.

Smelling Bottles: This game is mainly for children of 3 ½ years of age. It generally consists of two different opaque jars each consists of cotton balls of different odours. The child is required to smell the cotton balls from inside the opaque jars and distinguish between the odours ands and fragrances. Thus in a way it helps to refine their olfactory sense.

Thermic Tablets: This activity is generally for children between 3 ½ years of age to 4 years of age. It generally consists of a box with six pairs of tables with different kinds of heat conducting properties like wood, felt, iron, marble and cork. It helps to develop the thermal sense of the children.

Constructive BlueTriangles: This activity is generally carried out between children of 4 to 5 years of age. This game is basically played in order to develop the constructive power of the children so that they can explore and make all different shapes of triangles by using only two triangles.

Mystery Bag: This game is generally played in order to develop the stereognostic sense and the material visualization of the children.

Fabric Box: This activity is generally is carried out to develop the tactical sense of the children.
